I'm definitely a big fan of historical fiction myself, and that's the genre of my WIP. :)

Thank you for visiting, Katy, and I'm glad you enjoyed the post!

~AmberAmber Holcombhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15100265646497152198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3791370181970390465.post-43843970880377424822011-03-09T00:10:12.415-06:002011-03-09T00:10:12.415-06:00Sandra,

And, yes, those are the genre's that I am currently writing - I have a WIP in each. :-D lol

Great post, Amber!

~ KatyKatie Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14957978754744226499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3791370181970390465.post-39097036692838956482011-03-07T12:25:48.213-06:002011-03-07T12:25:48.213-06:00One of the things an author has to learn early on ...One of the things an author has to learn early on is that the stories they write have to appeal to readers. Publishers are in the business to make money, and they have a sharp eye about the kinds of stories that will do that for them.

As a reader, I want a story that keeps me engaged until the very last page and has a satisfying ending. I don't want to read a story that ends in tragedy for the hero and heroine. I want to believe in the happily ever after that all women want.

So, I try to write stories like that, and I read books that make me feel good when I've finished them. Since I love the story of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, I'm reading Pride and Prejudice right now, but I also have just finished several Christian fiction books, too. Some of my recent reads are two books by my friend Susan Page Davis, Frasier Island and Finding Marie, and also my friend Janelle Mowery's recent release When All My Dreams Come True. These books are definitely the kind I like to read!I would recommend all three to anyone who enjoys romance with suspense sprinkled in.

Sandra RobbinsSandra Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09489601049140737500noreply@blogger.com
