It gives me great pleasure to introduce the newest member of The Borrowed Book team!

Amber Stokes is a college student at Corban University. She is an English major who loves to write poetry, short stories, novels (her first manuscript is still a work-in-progress), and, of course, blog posts. Amber says it is her desire to follow God's will for her life, wherever He leads her. We're so glad He led her here!

From being valedictorian of her graduating class (McKinleyville High School, class of 2009) and graduating with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, to earning her black belt in Jujitsu, Amber has worked hard to excel in life. She has participated in choir, her high school's Key Club, and Corban's production of State Fair (Fall 2009). Her favorite activities include reading Christian fiction, writing, and spending time with family and close friends.

Beginning next Monday, Amber will post articles dealing specifically with her writing journey. In addition, she'll post occasional reviews, give insight into her publication trials, and give us a glimpse into the life of a full-time college student/full-time author. To find out more about Amber and her work, visit her at Seasons of Humility.

Please help me welcome Amber to The Borrowed Book. We look forward to working with her for many years to come.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hannah,

Of course! ;) You know I can't let you best me in everything!

It was awesome to be able to hear your voice, too! We have known each other a long time now. It's been so fun. :)

And hahaha, I know you're not stalking me! I'm flattered that you stopped by my blog and the BB to send a shout out to me. Thank you!

    ~Amber

P.S. I found it! Your life was right where you left it--under the pillow. I told you to be more careful with it! ;)

  30. ME best YOU!?!?! *attempts to pick jaw up off the floor* Oh, honey, you have that sooooo backwards. You'll always have me beat lol, I can pretty much promise you that.

Ha! Fun is an understatement, girlie :D I absolutely adore having met you. I hope we stay in contact in the years to come because I'd love to be included in your adventures. You've got so much ahead of you, hun, you're going to do brilliantly!

Oh pshaw! I don't know why you'd be flattered, I haven't done anything! Lol...

And okay, the pillow thing....Tiny...you blow me out of the water almost every single day. I swear! I can't explain it, but you've got this way about you that makes my heart feel so happy! LOL I feel so connected with you sometimes...I don't know. I feel like a silly schoolgirl pouring all her feelings out when I shouldn't be :P But when the moment takes me there, I go with it usually lol. I don't expect you to feel the same at all, I just thought I'd let you know, Miss Amber.

Thank you so much *big heartfelt hug* lol
    Hannah

  31. Hannah,

Oh, pshaw right back at you! ;)

And thank you! I'm excited at the thought of having all of ya'll tag along with me on my writing adventures! Hopefully they won't lead to dead ends. That might be kind of boring... ;)

Just kidding! Anyway, I really appreciate your support, my dear! :)

And you're so cute! I'm glad that you like the pillow line. ;) I was trying to think of where I could say you left your life without seeming like you would have left it in some neglected place, if that makes sense! For instance, I didn't want to say you left it under the bed because then it would seem as if you were trying to hide it rather than just accidentally leaving it in dreamland (etc.). Sorry if I'm just confusing you more! ;) But I'm so glad we're friends and that you understand my quirky ways. :)

    ~Amber

  32. Ohhhhhhh Amber,
You've got me giggling right now, which even though it kills my stomach to do so, I love it. Thank you!!! I feel like you're gonna get so sick and tired of hearing thank you and how much I love you that it's going to be overused! But that's not the point for sure baha! I just don't know how to say it otherwise ; )

It won't lead to dead ends, I'm confident saying that lol. You're gonna do fabulously, dahling, now keep your pretty lil chin up and think positively and confidently! Who am I to give advice? But I believe it for you, girlie. Lol!

Ummmm your quircky ways speak to me *falls off couch laughing* I LOVE it! It cheers me up more than you can know, I think, and it's so darn fun. I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, but just to clarify, I definitely didn't throw my life away on purpose :P Trust me, it grew legs and decided to walk off and find someone much more interesting than me. Bahahaha...

OH! Girllllll, I had a phenomenal dream last night! And yes it has something to do with you or I wouldn't bring it up ;D I most definitely will have to tell you sometime. Is that weird that I dream about my friends? LOL! Usually my friends are in my dreams...I think it's because you guys are the bright spot in my life lol *blush*

Okay shutting up now. But may I just say HAHA!! You know what I can best you at??? Writing longer comments I think ; ) You're pretty close, but usually I can trump you, I think, lovey. Hehehe
    Talk soon,
    Hannah

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hannah,

OK, you can definitely best me at writing long comments! ;) I won't even try to beat you now!

Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend! I appreciate your confidence in me and your support! You are an awesome friend! :D

And I know you didn't throw your life away! I also know that it didn't walk away on you. ;) You simply left it under the pillow, and it's waiting right there for you, so go get it and "keep moving forward!" (As they say in Meet the Robinsons--LOVE that movie!) ;)

Anyway, you'll have to tell me about your dream sometime! That's sweet that you dream about your friends. :)

    Love ya, girl!

    ~Amber

  34. HA! Gotcha! But you know what? I think you might beat me at smileys, geeeeeeeeeeez, girl! You put lottsa smileys : ) I love it! Bahaha...

Lol oh geez...I don't think I can find the right pillow ; ) And I've never seen that whole movie *avoids Amber's glare* LOL!

Yep I certainly will....I just hope I can remember all of it lol...hmmm *thinking* I don't know if I can anymore...OH WAIT! I remember :D heheheehe...

Love you too, Shorty ; )
    Hannah

  35. Hannah,

    I do use a lot of smileys, don't I? ;) I'm glad you love it, though! ;D

Oooh, you should definitely watch all of that movie--it's super sweet and fun!

    Talk to you soon! :)

    ~Amber

P.S. One more smiley for good measure... :D

  38. LOL! Oh man, you have no idea how much I'm loving this. I feel really selfish though...lol! I shouldn't tie you down and make you text me every night ; )

But oh how I love it Amber....you are such an awesome friend. Makes me think of that Toy Story song ; )

*singing* You've got a friend in me....you've got a friend in me! Though the roads look, rough ahead and you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed. You just remember what your old pal said, Tiny, you've got a friend in me.

    Hannah

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hannah,

I'm loving it, too, and you're not being selfish! We're just two friends talking the night away, so to speak. ;)

And oh! I love that song!!! How did you know I like Toy Story? ;) Must have been all that excitement on my blog last summer with the release of Toy Story 3...and of course that AWESOME party you planned for me on your blog! :D

Thank you for serenading me, dear friend. :) "You've got a friend in me!"

    ~Amber

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lol! I love that "two friends talking the night away" Awwwwww so true : ) Except I pin you down to every night. But you know...tonight you pursued me...so I guess that's good sign! LOL! Trust me I overanalyze everythinggggggggg. So annoying :P

You know, have a little faith, Miss Amber. I'm just that good, don't you know that by now? Is that the only Disney movie you really favor? Lol...because lemme tell you anytime I see Toy Story I think of YOU now...sheesh lady *shaking head* Yeah, now I've gotta one up last year, especially since you're turning the big 2-0!! You're so....old blech. Rofl!! I don't know what I'm going to do just yet, but just you wait and see, missy. I'll do something fabulous for ya : )

And hey, no problemo. I don't sound that good, but I can pull it off hehehehehe

    Hannah

  41. Hannah,

I did indeed send the first text this evening. ;)

And awwww, that's sweet that you think of me every time you see Toy Story! :) I LOVE that whole series! But believe me--I love a LOT of other Disney movies, too! Don't think I could list them all right now... ;)

You know, I think you're the one with the birthday coming up next month... So I think I'm going to need to do some plotting of my own... Don't even start thinking about my birthday yet! It's 4 long months away!

You know, we sure are piling up a lot of comments on here... ;) But it's fun chatting with you! :)

    ~Amber

    ReplyDelete
  42. You sure did!

Lol I can't help it! One of my friends from home is obsessed with Jasmine and it's the same way with her, always think of her when I see Jasmine. And one of our pastors! Pastor Lory! Absolutely obsessed with purple. She always wears a purple oufit under her robe every Sunday. She's pretty fun. But Toy Story is reserved for you, my dear. Forever and always, I'm sure ; )

Hmmmm Disney movies, trying to think of my faves...

Oh pfffft please! You really don't need to do anything. It's not a big one, not important at all. I would never expect you to do anything. Besides mine falls on a Tuesday! You're going to be too busy with school, young lady!! Don't bother with it...

And I AM planning a lil in my head!! I've got some ideas, i just want it to be really, really special for ya : ) Sicne I can't really do anything. It's not good enough, but it'll have to do given the cirumstances.

Yes we are! They're going to ban me from the blog O_O EEK!
    Hannah

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hannah,

Fun! I'll always be Toy Story girl now. ;)

And yes, your birthday is important!! I have every right to plan a birthday party for you!

Silly, they won't ban you from the blog. How could they ban sweet, little ol' you? ;)

    ~Amber

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh yes, Miss Teeny Tiny. Always the Toy Story girl you shall be :D

*blush* Every right!? What!? You is crazy, girl. You really shouldn't bother yourself, you're much too busy lol...I mean technically I CAN'T stop you....bahahaha! I'm sure it would be a fun time, but Amber! *blush* I don't know...no ones ever thrown me a party before lol other than my mom. No friends *shrug* So you'd be the first...and I can't imagine a better person : ) So thank you, but still I don't know if you should. It really isn't important.

And *blush a deeper shade of red* YOU! *shaking head* I'm not sweet lol...they are going to! ACK! :P But as for how...hmmmm I'm not sure how they'd do it, but where there's a will there's a way, my dear.

(((big hugs))) Feeling loveable this morning ; ) So you get some lol!!

  45. How could I have missed this welcome post?! Amber is going to make a great addition to this team!

I'll have to pick your brain later about Jujitsu. I'm thinking about getting my son involved in it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hannah,

Well, I think it's about time you had a party then! :) March is going to be awesome!

Thanks for the love! ;) Have a great weekend!

    ~Amber

  47. Joy,

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you think so. :)

And yes, feel free to ask away! Jujitsu is a great form of martial arts for those who want to know how to defend themselves. It's also great for learning self-discipline and building self-confidence. :)
